Helen Diehl Fund

Helen Diehl gave generously on multiple occasions to help the sustainability of the Newton YMCA. When times were hard, Helen ensured that the community would still have access to the resources supplied by the YMCA. In 2019, the center received a generous gift of $573,832, given by Helen.
Helen B. Diehl, the daughter of Ben and Mary Acseva (Eaton) Acklin, was born December 9, 1921 in newton, Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High with the class of 1939.  In 1941, Helen was united in marriage with Clyde H Weeks.  He would precede her in death in 1968.  In 1973, Helen was united in marriage with John N Diehl.  He would precede her in death in 1984.  Helen was president and co-owner of the Jasper County Abstract Company in Newton for over forty years.  She retired in 1983.

Helen died on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Park Centre Health Care in Newton.  She was 96 years old.  Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clyde; her second husband, John; her step-son, John E. Diehl.
