aquatics

The Newton YMCA offers the only indoor public pool in Newton. The pool is a 25-meter heated pool that allows a number of opportunities to enjoy the water year round.

The YMCA has activities for everyone at the pool! Whether you are here for swim lessons, aerobics, lap swimming, or just to play, you are sure to have a great time! Check out our pool schedule each week to find out what is happening. Printed copies can be found at the main desk of the YMCA. In addition to open and lap swim, the YMCA offers a variety of water fitness classes.

The Newton YMCA's pool serves as the practice site and the home meet site for the Newton Cardinals boys swim team and the NCMP Aquagirls high school swim team. The YMCA also has a very competitive youth summer and winter program. The Newton YMCA Penguins offers youth from 5 to 18 years old the opportunity to compete against swimmers from across the state.
POOL SCHEDULE

Pool Policies

  • Children 8 and under must be actively supervised by a parent/guardian (within arm's reach), unless they are able to pass a YMCA test given by a lifeguard.
  • Children 9 & up may be in the pool area unsupervised if they have passed the swim test.
  • Children who have not passed the swim test, 9 & up, may only be in the shallow end
  • If a child needs a flotation device or does not pass the swim test, a guardian 16 & up must be actively supervising and in the water with the child.
  • Lifeguards have an allowance of observing a maximum of 25 people in the pool at a time
  • Whirlpool users must be 18 years and older, or 14 years and older if they are supervised by a parent/guardian.
  • Sauna and Steam Room users must be 18 years and older
All situations are at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
