Clay Classes

Samanatha Hoffert is offering several youth clay classes. Sam has years of experiences working with clay. She has experience with hand building as well as the pottery wheel. Registration closes one week prior to class.

Polymer/Air Dry Clay Classes:
Nature Mobile: The first three weeks hand-build and mold nature items from clay. The last week we will be stringing the items to a twig to create a unique mobile. There are two sessions: one for 4 to 7 year old children and one for 8 year olds and older.

Who: Children 4 to 7 years old
When: 1-1:30 p.m. Fridays, June 18, 25, July 9, 16
AND
Who: Children 8 years old and older
When: 2-2:30 p.m. Fridays, June 18, 25, July 9, 16
Fees: $8 for members and $10 non-members

Under the Sea Diorama: Use hand-building and mold techniques to make your favorite sea creatures and their environment.

Who: Children 4 to 7 years old
When: 6-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, July 13, 20, 27
AND
Who: Children 8 years old and older
When: 7-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, July 13, 20, 27
Fees: $8 for members and $10 non-members

Youth Wheel Class: Students will learn the basics of using the pottery wheel.

Who: Children 8 years old to teenagers (A minimum of 4 students required for class)
When: 6-7 p.m. June 17, 24, July 8 and 15
Fees: $35 for members and $40 for non-members

Youth Hand & Wheel Class: Week one and two will introduce students to the basics of making bowls using the pottery wheel techniques. Week three, you will pinch, slip and create a 3D creature out of clay. Glazing of the artwork will be done on the final day of class. Projects can be picked up the following week.

When: 10-11 a.m. June 18, 25, July 9, 16
Who: Children 8 years old and older (Minimum of four students, maximum of six)
Fees: $30 for members and $35 for non-members

Youth Hand Building

When: 6-7 p.m. June 15, 22, 29 and July 6
Who: Children 8 years old and older (Minimum of four students, maximum of six)
Fees: $30 for members and $35 for non-members

Junior Youth Hand Building

When: 9-9:30 a.m. June 18, 25, July 9, 16
Who: Children 5 to 7 years old (Minimum of four students, maximum of six)
Fees: $15 for members and $20 for non-members
